The art of observation
» News / by Zupi

Thirty Days Immediate Inference (30DII) is the name of the experimental project by artists Neža Agnes Momirski and Reno Voet, in which they combined drawing, sculpture, photography and graphic design. The project was conceived by a simple yet intense idea: the artists would spend 30 days observing each other and creating a setup for an image every day, based on their particular views.

30 days of artistic isolation; 30 days of joy, pain, happiness, conflict; 30 days of not knowing what the other person is creating behind their desk; 30 days of fully developing the art of getting to know someone.

The hard and exhausting process soon turned into an obsessive method of working, in spite of which they managed to create 60 wonderful works. The basic rules for the process were the following:

- The project lasts for 30 days;
- Everyday a setup for an image has to be done;
- Everyday there is a new theme you have to work with.
- Themes are based on observing another person.
- Every piece has to have a title.
- You can not see the images that the other person is working on until the 30 days are over.
- No feedback is allowed during the process from other people.
- The works need to be A3 size.

To conclude the project, they gathered all the images on a book – Thirty Days Immediate Inference -, revealing technical details of the process and the emotional experiences they went through during the 30 days. The .pdf volume is available to download at the project’s website.
